Working at Jack FM isn’t as lucrative as you would think. In fact, we don’t make a whole lot of money at all. Fine, let’s face it: if you work at Jack, chances are you’re dirt poor. Dumpy little building, no DJs. You get the picture.
So when we’re not busy not making a lot of money, we here at Jack like to drink beer. Lots of beer. That’s pretty much all we do when we’re not working (and sometimes when we are working, but that’s another story). So after reading this study on LATimes.com, we’re really pissed off at Hipsters right now.
Our money situation is at war with our drinking habits. The only reasonable solution is to drink cheap beer (yes, we realize another solution is to stop drinking so much beer, but then again, we said “reasonable solution”).
However, according Research Sciences, the cost of low- and mid-range beers has been rising across the U.S. In particular, the cost of Pabst Blue Ribbon, or PBR to the initiated, has been the main push behind the price hike due to its popularity among hipsters, claims Research Sciences president Chuck Ellis.
“I believe the single biggest driver in sub-premium beer price increases is indeed specifically PBR,” Ellis reports. “It has become quite fashionable.”
Ellis continues, saying, “Lower-priced beers such as Pabst Blue Ribbon have seen sizable double-digit price increases in both restaurants and bars and nightclubs.”
So because those hipsters like to drink our cheap beer, the price of classics like PBR has gone up. In other words, we’re now both broke and sober. Thanks stupid hipsters.
