“The Man In Black,” Johnny Cash, has come back to life via his own slick limited-edition black stamp for the United State Postal Service. Created by the USPS and members of the Cash family, the Johnny Cash Forever stamp will be released to the public on Wednesday, June 5th. A ceremony will be held in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium that will include appearances by the John Carter Cash, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Randy Travis.
Cash’s son, John Carter Cash said in a statement that the honoring of his father with the stamp is an “amazing blessing,” while daughter Rosanne Cash says it is an “honor for any American.”
“Dad was a hard-working man, a man of dignity,” said John. “As much as anything else, he was a proud American, always supporting his family, fans and country. I can think of no better way to pay due respect to his legacy than through the release of this stamp.”
Stamps will be available online at usps.com/stamps.
