Sopranos star James Gandolfini tragically passed in Italy last week from a heart attack. The actor was not only celebrated by peers in his field, but musicians like Steven Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen who considered him a “great friend.”
At a recent show in England, Springsteen played all eleven tracks from 1975’s Born to Run from back-to-front including “Thunder Road.” He dedicated the performance to Gandolfini.
During Springsteen’s encore he also played “We Are Alive” and “Born in the U.S.A.”
Last week, Van Zandt said in a statement that he “lost a brother and a best friend.”
“The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time,” said Van Zandt. “Maureen and I send our deepest sympathy and love to Deborah, Michael, Lily, and all of Jimmy’s family.”
