Reddit Post Fuels Multiple Pizza Deliveries To 2-Year-Old Cancer Patient. How Many, You Ask?
It was a gesture of kindness. 2-year-old Hazel Hammersley is being treated for stage-3 nueroblastoma, a rare type of cancer, at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. She was admitted to the hospital July 4, and, according to her mother, Lauren Hammersly, had been going, “a little stir crazy,” reports Yahoo.com.
So in an effort to alleviate the boredom, Hazel and grandmother Linda made a sign out of medical tape on their hospital room window: Send pizza room 4112.
All was quiet the first few days until someone snapped a picture and posted the distress call on Reddit, where it quickly became viral. So many people responded to her request that little Hazel recieved well over twenty pizzas. In fact, the hospital had to request that no more pizzas be sent.
Best part of all, little Hazel loved all the attention, according to mother Lauren. No word, however, on which toppings were chosen.
