Satan laughing, spreading his wings? Big black shapes with eyes of fire? Fairies with boots dancing with a dwarf? Alright, that third one doesn’t sound too scary. But Black Sabbath is incorporating some of its darkest lyrical imagery into a completely original 3D haunted maze that’s coming to Universal Studios in Hollywood.
Beginning September 20 as part of the theme park’s Halloween Horror Nights event, the maze will include both live scares from actors (or are they actors?) and 3D video effects, as guests navigate “horrifying graveyards, disturbing madhouses and bone-chilling battlefields.” The video above previews the attraction, showing presumed test riders getting the crap scared out of them.
The official name of the attraction is “Black Sabbath: 13-3D,” so the band’s comeback effort 13 will also be incorporated into the scares. But the video’s description promises “a heart-stopping Lucifer and his bride, blood-soaked dead bodies and bubbling pools of ‘radioactive water’ while song’s inspired by ‘Luke’s Wall,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Paranoid,’ ‘War Pigs,’ ‘Electric Funeral’ and – of course – ‘Black Sabbath’ violently penetrate the confines of the maze at high volume.”
The attraction looks like a must-ride for hardcore Sabbath fans, especially those living near Hollywood. It won’t be appearing this year at the Orlando version of Universal Studios, though. Attractions that will be at both locations include Walking Dead– and Evil Dead-themed haunted mazes.
Are you a big-enough Sabbath fan to plan a trip for this one-of-a-kind house of horrors?
