New York’s iconic rock club, CBGB, was known for breaking some killer artists and Randall Miller’s film of the same name about the club features “appearances” by bands like Blondie, Talking Heads, The Ramones, The Police, Patti Smith, and Foo Fighters‘ Taylor Hawkins playing punk rock rule breaker Iggy Pop.
Alan Rickman plays CBGB club owner Hilly Kristal. Opening in 1973 under the pretense of being a Country BlueGrass Blues club, CBGB unfortunately had to close down in 2006 due to ever-increasing New York City rent issues. We wonder how much the rent was in 1973 when Kristal opened the club?
We’re super excited about this film, It’s hits theaters on October 11th, but with the awful slew of summer blockbusters, we want it out now. Especially since Blondie is playing our FLASHBACK JACK show!
