Chitown punk rockers, Rise Against, have their own awesome catalog to choose songs to sing, but they’re releasing a covers and B-sides album called Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000-2013 on September 10th. About a month ago, the band also released a pretty straight-forward cover of Journey’s “Any Way You Want It.”
In anticipation of that release, the band recently played a steamy cover of Bruce Springsteen‘s “The Ghost Of Tom Joad” at a concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. For the track, Rise Against brought Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello out, along with MC5‘s Wayne Kramer, and Gaslight Anthem‘s Brian Fallon.
According to an interview, frontman Tim McIlrath said that having such major music heavyweights onstage with him was an fate.
“This whole experience was surreal and serendipitous,” said McIlrath. “We wanted to do something special and we were touring with Brian and Gaslight Anthem so the tricky part was seeing if Wayne Kramer and Tom Morello were available. We [got] to share the stage with Brian Fallon who we love and admire but also not one, but two legends!”
