Police: Theft Of Custom ‘Scrooge McDuck’ Medallion Leads To Charges In Murder
HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – The theft of a custom-made medallion featuring the likeness of popular Disney character Scrooge McDuck helped Hartford police track down two suspects in a recent murder.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Division learned while investigating the murder of 25-year-old Miguel Rodriguez that the deceased was missing a piece of custom-made jewelry he usually wore around his neck.
According to the Hartford Courant, the medallion, along with a gold chain, were found in a local, unnamed second-hand jewelry shop. The store was able to provide authorities with the name and photograph of the person who sold it to them.
The paper learned that 21-year-old Tyquan Turner and 22-year-old Lorenza Christian, both of Hartford, were then subsequently tied to the shooting of Rodriguez, who had first been found July 13 with several gunshot wounds in his body.
