NYPD Determined To Arrest Banksy, Because Cleary He’s New York’s Biggest Problem
Famed street artist Banksy has been decorating the streets of New York City this past month with his particular brand of art, as a visit to his website reveals. With everything from a meat truck packed with toy animals to secretly selling his art on sidewalks to unsuspecting buyers, Banksy has made his presence felt in the Big Apple.
And the NYPD is not happy.
As reported on Gothamist.com, Mayor Michael Bloomberg issued a statement this week saying that “Art is art, and nobody’s a bigger supporter of the arts than I am. I just think there are some places for art and there are some places [not for] art. And you running up to somebody’s property or public property and defacing it is not my definition of art. Or it may be art, but it should not be permitted. And I think that’s exactly what the law says.”
Gothamist also reports that arresting Banksy has become a “top priority” to the NYPD.
The only problem, no one knows for sure who Banksy really is. There has been plenty of speculation, but nothing concrete. So the NYPD’s first item of business is to figure out who Banksy is, then maybe they can arrest him.
Seems like a lot of work to figure out who and then find one guy in a city of over 8 million people. Not that we condone vandalism here at JACK FM, but a top priority? Really? We guess that’s what happens when you’re one of the safest large cities in the U.S.
What do you think, is Banksy an artist or a criminal? Or is he both?
