Some JACK FM listeners aren’t even old enough to have been born with Peter Gabriel wrote this song, but the songwriter recently released a new song called “Courage.” The song was imagined in 1986, but was only recorded recently.

During sessions for a classic albums, comprised of hit singles like “Sledgehammer” and “Don’t Give Up,” Gabriel started working on “Courage” again and finally had enough, ahem, courage, to flesh it out the way that he imagined it. Overdubs were added and they did a radio edit of the song.

“When So drew to a close I didn’t feel the song was delivering the way I’d hoped, so I decided not to include it,” said Gabriel of why “Courage” wasn’t included on 1986’s So. “When we were reviewing all the material from that time we wanted to take a fresh look at it and get it finished. I always liked the track and very much enjoyed the playing on it – especially the energy of the drums.”
