So this is like the coolest LEGO ever. Sorry giant X-Wing Fighter, but you’ve been demoted to number 2. A bold statement indeed, relegating anything Star Wars related to second place, but after you see what Super Awesome Micro Project spawned, we think you’ll be inclined to agree.
We present to you the world’s first self powered, fully functioning car made nearly entirely out of LEGO bricks. The Super Awesome Micro Project was created by Australian based fundraiser Steve Sommarito and 20-year-old “self taught technology genius” Romanian Raul Oaida.
The car is made from over 500,000 LEGO pieces. Even the radial engine itself is made from LEGO bricks, with compressed air powering 256 tiny LEGO pistons. Granted, not every piece of the car could be made from LEGO, mainly the wheels and some other load bearing parts, but for the most part, she’s a real brick house, capable of moving between 12 and 18 mph.
The design itself is a of Hot Rod, “mainly because Hot Rods are cool.” S.A.M.P., we think you’re cool
