“Deception, conflict of interest issues, being left in the dark on what’s going on, crony capitalism, runaway development and requests for public information being refused or stonewalled for months.” Those are some of the reasons Councilman David Waddell claims on a Facebook note that he resigned from the Indian Trail council, a town near Charlotte, North Carolina.

But if you’re facing that kind of adversity, there’s only one way to resign: Klingon style. Yes, as in Star Trek. Take a look at the actual note (with translation) that Waddell submitted to mayor Michael Alvarez HERE.

As to why he sent his resignation in Klingon, Waddell says it was “an inside joke,” reports the Charlotte Observer.

“Folks don’t know what to think of me half the time,” said Waddell. “I might as well have one last laugh.”

Mayor Alvarez was not amused, saying “It’s an embarrassment for Indian Trail, and it’s an embarrassment for North Carolina.”

Well if Waddell wanted to cause a commotion before he left, we say Qapla!
