Download Pixies’ New Album ‘EP-2’

By Jeremy D. Larson

Following the firing of bassist Kim Shattuck and the hiring of  bassist Paz Lenchantin, the Pixies have announced another small collection of songs, EP-2.

Similar to the release of EP-1 in 2012, the four new songs showed up with no more fanfare than an email early in the morning. They were recorded during October 2012 at Rockfield Studios in Wales, and were produced by longtime Pixies producer Gil Norton. You can download EP-2 now over at the Pixies website.

The band also shared a video for the new song “Blue Eyed Hex.” Black Francis wrote on the Pixies’ site, “It’s a tale from the northwestern part of the UK, and it’s a witch-woman kind of a song. That’s what a ‘hexe’ is, and ours is a blue-eyed hexe.”

Watch the video, and check out the artwork for EP-2 below.

Expect more releases to be put out by Pixies this year, which the band said last year will come out “sporadically.” recently caught up with the band. Check out our interview here.
