Starting Sunday, January 12 through Friday, January 17, Pasadena is hosting the third annual Cheeseburger Week! During this most special of weeks, “forty of Pasadena’s favorite restaurants, lounges and burger joints offer their signature burgers, some special creations, and deals!”

And beside gorging on specialty burgers, you can vote for your favorite creation in the Cheeseburger Challenge. Not into voting? Then maybe just take the Cheeseburger Crawl.

Now why, you ask, does Pasadena host such an extensive celebration of cheesiness? You may not know this, but the cheeseburger was actually invented by Lionel Sterberger at Rite Spot which was located in–you guessed it–Pasadena. Cheeseburger Week exists to commemorate Sterberger’s brilliant decision to “add cheese to it.”

For more details about Cheeseburger Week, including a list of participating restaurants and the cheeseburgers they serve, visit PasadenaRestaurantWeek.com. And don’t forget to take a listen to the official song of Cheeseburger Week, Mr. Jimmy Buffett himself.
