The man in black is back. Dark-edged country star, Johnny Cash, seems to consistently resonate with new musical audiences, making the latest discovery of a lost song like some glittering sonic treasure.
According to Consequence of Sound, an unreleased Johnny Cash album from the ’80s named Out Among The Stars was supposed to be released by Columbia Records but was shelved when Cash left the label. Cash’s son, John Carter Cash, found the tapes and now the album will finally be released via Columbia/Legacy.
The new/old track is called “She Used To Love Me a Lot.” “I really love this song,” John Carter Cash said to Rolling Stone. “The depth that’s there reminds me of the real serious stuff that Dad did later in his life. And I truly think it’s one of the beautiful undiscovered gems in my dad’s catalog.”
