Instituted in 2008, Record Store Day is an internationally celebrated holiday, promoting the importance of supporting your local, independent record store, and the culture attached.
Each year, on the third Saturday in April, music fans can find unique and exclusive releases, and well as catch live performances.
This year, Record Store Day will be celebrated on Saturday, April 19th.
Check out a full list of the exclusive releases and more HERE. In order to prepare yourselves for the big day, here are some of the special events going on at record stores in the Los Angeles area!
6400 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028
Amoeba’s famous Hollywood location will have a full day of celebration! Start your day there with coffee and food from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! As well as treats from Pure Luck, Hubert’s Lemonade, and Roots Hummus! Starting at noon, limited-edition RSD 2014 tees and totes will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Amoeba will also be giving away lots of prizes from 1PM-4PM, and you can enter the raffles for just one dollar! They’ll also be a caricature artist on hand to create your very own portrait!

This Echo Park mainstay has an awesome day planned for loyal customers! Opening at 8AM, Origami promises that the very first customer in line will be allowed to shop in the store solo for a full five minutes! After that, they will be letting people in ten at a time, to ensure that everyone gets a mellow shopping experience – pretty smart idea! They’re also only allowing customers to purchase one copy per item, which will help if you’re trying to get your hands on a limited release!
From 8AM – 5PM, Origami will feature guest DJ sets, including KROQ’s very own Kat Corbett! Also appearing are:

At 7PM, Juan Wauters will be performing songs from his recent solo release, North American Poetry.
At 8PM, check out a live acoustic performance from Pink Mountaintops.

Long Beach’s very own Fingerprints always guarantees an exciting experience on Record Store Day. Lat year’s event included in-store performances by Best Coast, Jimmy Eat World, and Mike Watt! This year, the store will open at 6AM! Get there early because there will be over 600 exclusive releases available for purchase!

Located in the heart of West LA, Touch Vinyl promises a HUGE haul of RSD exclusives, all of which you can scope out in list form on their website. Touch will also provide food & beverages by Risa, as well as two DJ sets in the evening by female LA natives, Victoria Rawlins and Semi Precious.

Record Surplus won’t just be celebrating Record Store Day on April 19th, but for three straight days! From April 18-20, check out their awesome sale, which includes 15% off all merchandise (excluding the RSD limited edition vinyls), and all merchandise in “The Attic” are three for 92 cents!
