Are you read for some new Metallica? If not, you better get ready. The ever-evolving alt-metal band (remember that thing they did with Lou Reed?) will be working on a follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic.
Guitarist Kirk Hammett told Guitar World that school’s in session this September because the dudes have a “backlog of riffs in the riff bank.”
“We totally want to make an album,” Hammett said. “But…we have families now. It’s gonna be summertime soon and it’s hard to work [then] because the kids are out of school.”
“Now it’s about picking riffs out, putting them together and moving along. Later, we’ll revisit it all and see where it goes.” If picking riffs out is as awesome as it sounds, we’d like to be professional riff picker-outers.
