Looks like a ‘For Sale’ sign won’t be going up outside the famous sriracha factory in the City of Irwindale.
Owner David Tran said in a recent interview that after being in California for more than 30 years, he’s not moving. But he is weighing options of opening an additional factory outside California to also produce the red chili sauce goodness.
Huy Fong Foods, maker of the sriracha, has had a few months. In October they were sued by the City of Irwindale over the smell generated by the plant and In December they were forced to halt shipments due to health concerns.
That’s when offers from other states to move the factory out of SoCal started coming in, including Texas, Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Louisiana.
We’re so happy this wonderful sauce will continue to call Southern California home.
