We’d say this was a bizarre story, if we didn’t totally understand the call of Jack in the Box after a happy hour gone wild. 34-year-old teacher, John Edward Maust, was so drunk at 9:30 on a Saturday night, that he allegedly kidnapped some of his students and demanded a ride to the fast food restaurant.
The Arroyo Pacific Academy instructor recieved a friendly flag down from three of his 17-year-old students in Altadena this weekend. Instead of just saying hello, Maust asked them for a ride to Jack in the Box. They agreed until their teacher started saying weird things, causing the students to get out of the car.
He then demanded they all get back in and take him to Jack in the Box. When they refused, he reportedly pulled a knife on them. When they called 911, a sheriff’s helicopter told the car to stop and then Maust ran off.
The next day, Maust turned himself in and arrested for kidnapping, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.
No word on if he ever got his Sourdough Jack fix.
