Great Scott! The future is now.
It’s 2014, and if you’re anything like us, you’re wretchedly disappointed that our future is nothing like the technologically advanced prediction from the Back to the Future trilogy. No instant pizzas , no Jaws 19, and definitely no hover boards – until now.
Looks like our constant complaints demands have persuaded Hollywood to put their money with their mouth is, because if you’re looking to own Marty McFly’s hoverboard from Back to the Future II, look no further.
The hoverboard used in the film us up for auction at Vue Cinema’s Entertainment and Prop Store Live Auction. Vue Cinema has been collecting artifacts from all of our favorite movies for dozens of years, and it looks like this is the year they will finally opening the bidding to the public. While Marty McFly’s hoverboard is featured as the headlining item, joining the prop will be the Batman Forever Batmobile model, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bike leathers from the Terminator 2 set, and even Charlie Bucket’s golden ticket from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.
The hoverboard is expected to sell for the highest bid, and is preliminary priced at £15,000 – or about $25,711 in the US. So quick, do the math – if you have the funds, you can cruise right into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory on Marty’s hoverboard wearing the Terminator’s leather jacket. Woah – somebody get JJ Abrams on the line, we have a great idea for a three-way-sequel.
The exhibition will be open October 1st at the Vue Cinemas in London, with the auction taking place on October 16th. Visit http://www.propstore.com/liveauction for more information.
