Today is the national observance of one of the greatest civil rights champions and influential leaders of our time, and to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., many area celebrations are being held around SoCal.
From parades, peaceful activities and celebrations, there’s something for whole family to participate in to remember and honor the great legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King!

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and Celebration commemorates the courage, humility, and ultimate sacrifice of the historic civil rights activist. The parade route begins on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Anaheim Street and will proceed North to Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, with live entertainment, games, food and more to follow in Martin Luther King Park.
Los Angeles — 30th Annual Kingdom Day Parade

Martin Luther King Blvd and Western Ave, Los Angeles
SoCal’s largest MLK celebration, The Kingdom Day Parade is presented by The Congress Of Racial Equality of California (CORE-CA) with this year’s parade theme being “Love & Respect: Let It Begin With Me.” The parade begins at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Western Avenue in South Los Angeles, head west on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Crenshaw Boulevard, then south to Vernon Avenue, concluding at Leimert Park.

The city of Inglewood is holding their annual family-friendly festivities at Crozier Middle School with a special Commemorative service featuring special guests, live entertainment, food trucks, arts and crafts and more.

This free festival includes music, performances followed by the street fair across the street (606 Wilshire Blvd.) where local nonprofit organizations network and share each group’s activities with the participants leaving the MLK Celebration.
Culver City — 10th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

Culver City has adopted the theme “Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere” for their 10th annual celebration. Schedule of events includes live musical inspiration, a panel discussion moderated by Margaret Prescod, screening of the film “Freedom Summer” and more.
