Following the devastating attacks in Paris on Friday (Nov. 13), fans of Eagles of Death Metal have began a campaign to get the band’s cover of Duran Duran‘s “Save a Prayer” to the top of the U.K. charts. The song is making waves and has already hit number one on iTunes and Amazon. You can watch the live performance in the player below.
Duran Duran frontman Simon LeBon responded to a tweet from the campaign’s Twitter account today (Nov 16) to announce that all proceeds raised by the single will be donated. The band is currently considering which charity will receive the funds, The singer wrote: “@EODMforNo1 @DuranDuran will donate all proceeds due to us, from this version. Considering options that are useful, peaceful & uniting.” See the tweet below.
The Eagles of Death Metal for No.1 campaign started on Saturday on Facebook. The page was created “to show our solidarity against terrorism and support for peace.” As of publication, it had more than 11,000 members.
According to Billboard, the U.K. singles chart closes at one minute before midnight on Thursday (Nov. 19).
