Strange Ways To Cook A Turkey On Thanksgiving

It’s the centerpiece for the delicious spread of traditional Thanksgiving Day dishes, and no one wants their turkey to come out dry and over done from baking it for hours. To get that perfectly cooked, juicy bird this Thanksgiving, check out these strange ways to cook your turkey that you may never have thought of before!

Deep fried

Everything tastes better deep fried, especially turkey. The newest rage for Thanksgiving is having your turkey cook in a vat of boiling oil until it comes out crisp on the outside, but moist on the inside. Although this way proves delicious results, it’s also a dangerous fire risk, as we learned from none other than William Shatner this year. Just remember to use the dingle dangle.

Microwave

This method seems like it wouldn’t really work in theory to thoroughly cook a 12-pound bird, but  if you want fast results there are recipes on Cooksrecipes.com that have multistep directions to cook a turkey using an oven bag.

Crock Pot

Although this method would take around six hours to fully cook a turkey, the payoff might be worth it. Using a crock pot for a smaller bird would yield a much higher moist factor for your turkey rather than baking it and drying it out in the oven.

Beer Can Turkey

If you’ve ever heard of beer can chicken, this is just another variation of it to get a juicy-cooked bird. The turkey is propped up on partially open cans of beer and cooked on a barbecue. The steam rising from the cans will keep the turkey moist and juicy. Here’s a great recipe on bbq.about.com for all those grill master who want to take on this challenge!
