Trio Of Movie Premieres To Close Hollywood Boulevard This Weekend, Early Into Next Week

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Several of Hollywood’s most heavily-traveled thoroughfares will be shut down for an extended weekend to accommodate three major movie premieres, including the latest film in the “Star Wars” saga.

The longest street closure begins Thursday night at 11 p.m. on Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and La Brea avenues and will last through Tuesday at 10 a.m. for the Monday night premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which already has fans lining up in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre. Hawthorn Avenue between Highland and Orange Drive will also be closed Monday at noon through midnight.

Los Angeles city officials say the Star Wars set up should be cleared off Hollywood Boulevard by Tuesday at 10 a.m., but the section between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive will stay closed to accommodate the next premiere, which will be “Point Break.”
