Adam Levine, Andy Samberg Perform ‘I’m So Humble’

By Hayden Wright

Andy Samberg is making the rounds to promote Popstar: Never Stop Never Stoppinga spoof of pop celebrities and their self-aggrandizing documentaries. Last night he performed “I’m so Humble” in character (Conner4Real) with Adam Levine on The Voice.

“My apple crumble is by far the most crumble-est/ But I act like it tastes bad outta humbleness,” rapped Conner4Real. “I’m the most courteous-bittable, hospitable/ Reverential, normal-ary Arnold Schwarzenorgarary.”

Levine delivers support on the song’s hook: “It’s not a competition, but I’m winnin’/ You won’t hear me admit it/ Because I’m so timid and submissive.”

The satire gets at a core contradiction in pop music: On one hand, its biggest stars are expected to act as larger-than-life entertainment royalty. On the other, we evaluate their moral fiber by how “down-to-earth” they remain.
