As the music world continues to mourn Lou Reed’s death, his final interview has just been released.
In his eulogy, Bono recalls the first time he met Reed, on the Amnesty International Conspiracy of Hope tour in 1986. He writes of how he and Reed bonded over poetry, specifically James Joyce. The two would go on form a friendship that involved swapping short-stories by Delmore Schwartz and poems by Seamus Heaney.
Performance artist, musician and sculptor Laurie Anderson, who also happened to be the loving wife to the recently deceased Lou Reed, revealed that her departed husband died while doing something he loved: Tai Chi.
“We both never felt comfortable going down the same path that everyone else was doing. Metallica’s always been autonomous, and Lou Reed is the godfather of being an outsider, being autonomous, marching to his own drum.”

Lou Reed, lead singer and founder of pioneering ’60s rock group the Velvet Underground, has died. Rolling Stone reports that the cause of his death has not yet been released, but Reed was hospitalized in July following a liver transplant in May. Reed was 71.
