After some very positive reaction following its screening at Sundance, Montage of Heck, the first official documentary about the life of Kurt Cobain is getting a proper theatrical release in addition to its already planned HBO premiere.
Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck arrives on HBO in May, and today brings the first public taste in trailer form.
It’ll include “a mind-blowing 12-minute acoustic Cobain unheard track.”
Forget Super Bowl XLIX, the real match-up is between musical legacies. Representatives from Seattle station KZOK and Boston’s WZLX argue which city has better music.

“We agreed that because Courtney was a subject in the film, it would be best if she wasn’t given editorial control,” Morgen said of her behind-the-scenes ouster from the project.

Fans of Nirvana—and, more specifically, frontman Kurt Cobain—will have their eyes glued to HBO next year.
The take on Nirvana follows recent versions of songs by the likes of Lana Del Rey and Fiona Apple on the spooky TV show.
