Are going to watch “The Walk” this Sunday at 4:40 pm on Discovery? We’re talking about Nik Wallenda, professional tightrope walker (if there even is such a thing), acrobat, and daredevil walking a tightrope across the Grand Canyon.
A seventh-generation member of The Flying Wallendas family and self proclaimed “King of the Wire,” Nik Wallenda has performed several deft defying acts including crossing Niagra Falls on a tightrope and hanging from a helicopter 250 feet off the ground using only his teeth.
At a height of 1,500 feet above the Little Colorado River Gorge, Nik Wallenda will walk on a wire that is just 2 inches thick. While traversing the 1,400-foot-wide gap between the cliffs, Nik will have to adjust to sudden wind gusts of over 20 mph with no safety tether attaching him to his line. One wrong step could be his last.
Nothing makes a Sunday afternoon complete like the possibility of death on live TV. Now pass the potato chips, will ya?
